Land Use & Wildlife

Excavated topsoil was not discarded but used for plantation and vegetation. Landscaped with climate appropriate flora.

Sustainable & Healthy Materials

No use of environmentally hazardous paints, woods, varnishes or finishing products.

Carbon Neutral & Low Energy Use

Use of fly ash for construction. Hot water generation through solar energy. Use of an energy efficient VRV system.

Sustainable Water

A wastewater treatment system produces stabilised water for landscaping purposes. Harvesting of rainwater for use.

Zero Waste

Wasted resources during construction, such as cement bags and steel piping, were recycled. Wet kitchen garbage is used to create vermicompost. Several statues in the property are made of the recycled products from the construction period.

Sustainable Transport

Battery operated vehicles and bicycles used as the primary mode of transportation.

Local Economy

Atmantan Resort is located in a remote area, with many of its staff housed locally, thus supporting the local village. What’s more, one enterprising villager even opened a restaurant at the resort gate, which has further boosted the local economy! We also support local farmers by teaching them organic farm practices, so that we can buy their produce.

Local & Sustainable Food

Hotel food sourced from an on-site organic vegetable garden and select local suppliers.

Culture & Community

Every month at Atmantan the resort's staff hold a food festival to celebrate regional cuisine. This event embraces and welcomes the whole community and supports culture experienced through food. Workshops are also held at local schools offering yoga classes, meditation and nutritional knowledge.

Health & Happiness

Large windows in all the rooms and public areas bring in natural light. Air quality enhanced by increasing the fresh air supply by 30%.
